I noticed that in recent releases, whenever I have applications updated, my web browser opens to a Liberkey page which tells me which applications have been updated. Is there a way to stop this annoyance without turning-off updates?

Yes, on the website, click on "Your Liberkey", then go to "Online options" and change options (maybe you will be asked to synchronize your liberkey before)
