I just migrated from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and cannot set Google Chrome from LiberKey as the default browser.
What I tried was the same what I did in Windows 7. I set Chrome as the default browser inside the Chrome settings and then edited the registry and search-replaced everything with chrome.exe to the GoogleChromePortable.exe inlcuding the matching paths. This worked very good with Windows 7 but does not work at all with Windows 8. When clicking an URL simply nothing happens, when trying to open a local html file I get an ugly error windows with "class not registered".
Can anybody help?
Cheers, Martin
PS: I checked Google and many many search results there, but I did not find anything working for Windows 8. There are lots of tips and hints for Windows XP/Vista/7 and also the installed version of Chrome, but nothing for Windows 8 / Chrome Portable. I'm sure the problem exists also with other portable browsers like Firefox.

"GoogleChromePortable" is the application name from another suite. Please ask them for it.
With Liberkey, you should NOT use native "set browser as default" feature from windows or from Chrome options but you should use "Key File Assoc" instead.

Sorry, cut-n-paste error.
Indeed I also tried with PortableApps, but I had the same problem with LiberKey, which I also tried.
I think the problem is that the browser is portable, not which portable suite I use.

Ok you're right. I totally forgot about the LK feature here... Sorry and thank you for pinning me to that again!
