VLC 1.0.5 - False positive

Postby opendev » 01 February 2010, 16:45

Hello,

We inform you that some antivirus (like Kaspersky) alert you about a trojan in VLC 1.0.5.

It is a false positive.

Have a look to the Virustotal Report

Moreover, it is identified on the VLC forum, see this message.
Kaspersky Lab has answered and the correction is underway at their level. It remains to wait the next update of their virus database.

Meanwhile, if you want to get Videolan before your antivirus update, the only way is to disable your antivirus during the LiberKey Videolan update, and put the LiberKey VLC folder in the trusted zone (don't forget after to enable again your antivirus).

I recently installed VLC 1.0.5 and in the subdir plugins ClamAV reports "libi422_yuy2_sse2_plugin.dll" to contain Monder trojan. Several pages tell this is a false positive.
