[Solved] Unable to associate with zip filesHey everyone. First of all, amazing program! I have been a fan of portable applications for a number of years, but nice to see that these 'central programs' have developed nicely. Due to certain features, chose LiberKey over another popular program.
I am having an issue with setting up a small feature of liberkey: file associations. Specifically, I am having trouble with .zip files. (doesn't matter if I try 7-zip or Peazip with Liberkey) The zip file association does appear in the KFA dialogue, but the associations don't get applied. ALL other files for all other programs work fine, just not zip. Here's what happens when the association tries to run. The zip icon changes to the "All Files" icon, the right click menu displays the right-click dialogue, but double clicking the file opens the zip in the windows default manager. I am running Windows 7 64-bit, at work (hence the need for portable apps) and obviously running without admin privileges. I'm wondering if this has something to do with zip files not being associated properly. I just find it strange that this is the only file type I'm having issues with. I did try and search around for similar issues, but haven't seen something like this answered yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Re: Unable to associate with zip filesOkay, so after many frustrating days of working on this, I seem to have found the solution, so will post in case someone else has the same issue. I finally realized that while I did have "Replace the current actions..." check in KFA, windows was still defaulting to the currently associated program. Liberkey DID, however show up in the "Open With" dialogue, so all I had to do is select 7-zip (Liberkey) as the default program. Now if I have Liberkey running, zip files associate with 7-zip, if not running, defaults to windows 7 built in viewer.
Well, got that solved...on to more configurations!
