Languages: Fr / En
Compatibility: Windows XP/Vista/7
License: Freeware
Author's description:

Wavosaur is a software useful for mastering, sample looping, sound designing, audio mangling etc.
We want to give a serious free alternative to audio editors.

We give the priority to efficiency and usability :
- the most common tasks must be fast and efficicient : selecting, zooming etc.
- the waveform representation must be reliable (without parasitic phenomenoms due to graphic aliasing).
- real-time manipulation for effect is important (no more "few seconds modal preview").
- ASIO & VST support.

Advantages: cool features - great support - fast - stable - free

Inconvenients: -

multi-antivirus: clean

Try searching the best audio sites like kvraudio - sos and all DAW's support forums!!
there are many and huge topics if you have the time to read :)

If not same major things...
Wavo is the only freewave editor with native vst support - asio - effect real time processing - and automation!
It is stable as a rock and can be seen even to some professional studios

audacity is not bad but is currently way back from wavo!

wavo is portable already and the only suite that has it is lupo ..
id love to see it here as well !

Most Important: Please note that Wavosaur is under development and will not be free once the final version is released just like Reaper which was free till version 1.0.

Although recently I have also mentioned about "Wavosaur" in my blog http://digitalmusicrecording.blogspot.c ... tware.html but I have yet to find out a professional studio which is using Wavosaur.

this is false !!

The development of the final version is done and it is still free.
Now they only working on updates ..

The only thing related to that is

* All correct donators will benefit from a free version of Wavosaur and lifetime free update if the license change.

Source: http://www.wavosaur.com/download.php (under "make a donation")

But even if they do it, the old version (which is excellent) will be still free (i guess and hope :) lol)

**this can happen anyway with any freeware (except open source) software. The developer is the boss :)**

Hello noaven and akhouri_sarvesh !

I agree with you, it is a great software. I have just tested it and it should be in LiberKey.

We can't do it now only for license content. So a request agreement has been sent to the editor for a LiberKey authorization.

Although I have reviewed the software in my blog that It is a great software (mentioned in my previous post), still I doubt that they will allow since they are not clear about their license policy. Please check the bottom of this page

Agree but I have read the following on their website, which makes me think ... :

Under FAQs at http://www.wavosaur.com/faq.php

  • Q: Why is it grayed ?
A: The development of Wavosaur is active, some features are implemented but not fully tested, they appear grayed, and these are features to be implemented in future releases if we can feel a real interest from the public though encouragements and donations.

Under Wavosaur main developer interview at http://www.wavosaur.com/interview.php

  • What is the future of Wavosaur?
    - I had to answer this question to many people last weeks: if I analyse the donation number it's always not enough in 3 years of activity. Then we have now to take decisions.
  • What kind of decisions?
    - We have 2 different possibilities:
    - become a payware/shareware
    - sell the project
  • Future free release?
    - It depends of the team motivation... I think yes to correct ASIO bugs, to improve frequency editor. To be honest we think that it's more interresting to study Wavosaur sale... But stay tuned.
  • What about the future?
    - We will continue the development of Wavosaur and its tools: new features, an effort on stability etc. We will also work at the website, adding an online tool to create Wavosaur skins, leaving the possibility for users to share their creation.

A project which comes out of Beta doesn't mean a final version. A final version is released and declared by the developer when he/she thinks that almost all current features are implemented and the the release it fully stable.

Thereafter they ask for feedback for proposing newer features from their users.

Further I have not found a proper License on their site. Please do provide me the link if you come across one.

My request to the editor is based on the readme.txt file which contains the License (inside Wavosaur.1.0.5.0(en).zip)
