[solved] Firefox - Lost all my settings, extentions etc

Postby surfinmark » 07 June 2011, 05:56

Hello

I have a problem with Firefox losing all my settings, bookmarks, plugins etc.

When I start Firefox from the Liberkey menu, all is fine and all my settings, bookmarks, plugins etc load.

BUT, if I start Firefox by clicking a link in an email etc, then Firefox starts but without any of my settings, bookmarks, plugins etc.

Note: If Firefox is already running, i.e. I start it from the Liberkey menu first, then I click a link in an email etc, then all is good, a new tab is opened in Firefox.

I only have 1 copy of Firefox on my computer, which is the Liberkey version.

Any help appreciated, thanks

Hello surfinmark.

You've probably changed the options in your Firefox to defined it by default.
But, now when you're directly click on Firefox.exe it use another profile and roots in the Windows' registry.

In the french section Skybird has explain how to solve these problem : http://www.liberkey.com/forums/support-fr/resolu-firefoxlkl-exe-comme-navigateur-par-defaut-2121.html?format=html&lang=fr#p15190

I've tryed a Google translation : http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=fr&ie=UTF8&prev=_t&sl=fr&tl=en&u=http://www.liberkey.com/fr/forums/support-fr/resolu-firefoxlkl-exe-comme-navigateur-par-defaut-2121.html%23p2112.

With my poor english not sure better explain better, sorry.

Thanks JP4U

That helped. FF is now appears to be operating correctly, as tested so far.

I did what Skybird suggested (2nd option, "make FireFoxLKL.exe ..... the default browser (not firefox.exe)"

BUT, I noticed that now in Windows 7 -> Set Default Programs (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs), that I now have 2 instances of Firefox to choose from (before I did the fix above Firefox was not in this list).

Image

Can anyone advise how I can remove 1 of the instances of Firefox from the Set Default Programs list. I am guessing it is a registry edit, but I wouldn't know where to start.

Thanks again
