Apologies! Not familiar with .xml code! I just cut and pasted the code ...
I corrected the LKConfig.xml and ran the same automatic and manual updates as before.
I now see the updates in the LKS_TEMP directory I have created but still won't unzip / install ...

The problem seems now clearly be 7zip.

Download a new Liberkey and install it in another file your usual one.
Replace in your Liberkey C:\Liberkey\LiberkeyTools\Installer\7z.exe and 7z.dll by 7z.exe and 7z.dll you found in the new Liberkey.

The problem rather seems to be you haven't enough rights to "C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp\"
Could you please try to run Liberkey.exe as administrator ("run as administrator")

I installed a new LiberKey to another location and replaced the 7z.exe and 7z.dll files in the original installation.
I then ran Liberkey.exe as administrator ((automatic and manual) with same result - log below:

I see the .lal and two .lks packages in the LKS_TEMP file.
I also see PDF-XChange_Viewer_2.5.214.1.lks under C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp\lbkdata ...

Is 7Zip maybe not recognising the .lks file type?

I see the folder C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp\ is marked read only in properties - is this how it should be? I can't seem to change it - if I uncheck this and apply, it goes back to read only again.
But permissions for System, Administrators, and Paul are all Full Control, Write, etc.

Eureka! If I install Liberkey onto an external USB drive E:\ it works perfectly. Automatic and manual updates.

So it must be something peculiar to my C: (system) drive. Permissions / rights to "C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp\"as you say?

Any ideas on how I can rectify this as I do really want Liberkey on my main C:\ drive ...

Are you running Liberkey from a corporate Windows ? (Windows Professional). The restriction could be local or domain policies (?!)

No - it is my home personal Windows Pro laptop ... there is nothing under software settings for computer or user configuration if I look at gpedit.msc ...

Guess I have to admit defeat - or just run Liberkey of an external drive.

The messages seem to indicate some sort of corruption when unzipping but the downloaded .lks files are the same size on C:\ as on E:\ - pity the log can not show more detail.

Fresh installations of LiberKey on C:\ system drive and E:\ external USB drive.
The only difference is 7z.exe executing from C:\ vs E:\ drives.
I set security permissions for 7z.exe on C:\ for all groups/usernames to full control, which is same as E:\.
What other reason could there be for the failure on C:\?

If you can't help further, please let me know.

Thanks for your logs ! I'm sure it will help our developper to locate where is the issue but to be honest I think this is not a liberkey issue but moreless a system issue (even if all others suites are working well) but we could maybe find a workaround in our 7zip procedure to avoid similar issues (e.g by extracting LKS in MyDocuments\LKS_TEMP\lbkdata instead of %localappdata%\lbkdata).

OK - it seems I can do nothing further for now then, except install on an external drive?
I had tried creating an LKS_TEMP folder under My Documents earlier, as pery our suggestion, but that did not help ...

It seems the solution was never found here either ...
