[Solved] Unable to install new apps

Postby Dukewayne9 » 08 April 2011, 18:07

I am running version 5.2.0321. I am able to update my existing apps on my memory stick but I cannot load any new apps. After clicking on the app and the drop down box appears, I click on INSTALL and nothing happens. Any suggestions?

How did you add the existing ones ?

"clicking on the app" => do you mean "double-clic the LKS file" or "Click install on the website" or clic the "install this app..." button of LiberKey Creator ?

You should check your antivirus software. They often break the installation process by preventing the execution of 7zip wich is used for extracting the setup data.

Can you copy or send us the LiberKey Linktechnical information about your LiberKey ?

I am now unable to install new apps from the online catalogue.
I mistakenly ticked a little box to let Firefox ALWAYS perform application installs, and cannot now get back to that little box to uncheck Firefox. It looks like my entire LiberKey suite is now ruined by this mistake.

Hello litchard.

In firefox go to Firefox menu >> Options >> Options >> Applications >> "Content Type" line "lbk" >> "Action", select "Always ask".

What happens when you click on Intall from the catalog ?

Re: Unable to install new apps - update July

Postby Dukewayne9 » 16 July 2011, 18:02

I am sorry for the long delay in replying to some of the helpful answers, but I am still having the same problem.

I reinstalled the current version of LiberKey with the standard suite. A day later I was able to update 2 programs with no problem. I am still unable to add an additional program from the catalog. I opened the catalogue, selected a program on the left side of the page. The right side of the page displays the description and the lower panel shows "Install ....on LiberKey". When I click this link, the LiberKey menu pops up and nothing further happens.

It was suggested that I send the Technical Information for my installation. What is this? When I click on what appears to be a hyperlink, my LK menu pops up and nothing further.

Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

I have just downloaded the latest version of Liberkey. Every time I try and add anything from the catalogue I get a message saying "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address as the protocol (lbk) isn't associated with any programme". I have gone into Liberkey Tools- KeyFile Assoc and then try and run the KeyFileAssoc.exe but nothing happens even if run as administrator. How do you add programmes from the catalogue and please keep it simple as I do not know how to code?

Hello johngml,

johngml wrote:..I get a message saying "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address as the protocol (lbk) isn't associated with any programme". I have gone into Liberkey Tools- KeyFile Assoc and then try and run the KeyFileAssoc.exe but nothing happens even if run as administrator.

With the latest versions, there is no more need to launch KeyFilesAssoc. But the menu itself must be started.
Is this the case in your tests?

When the menu starts, it warns Windows that it manages the lbk protocol.
When that fails, an icon appears in the menu like this:

When the mouse rolls over, it displays the following message:

Do you have this icon/message in your menu?

For information, there are also other ways to add applications in your menu:
Click the "LiberKey Tools" then "Manage Application / Install an application suite".
By doing so, the lbk protocol is not necessary.
To install applications that are not part of the proposed suites, you can download them from the catalog by clicking on "Offline setup". Once downloaded, drop it on the top off the menu's window (on the word "LberKey", or on the big red icon for example). You'll see this message :Image
Hope this can help you..
