ChkDsk/Corrupt File Error

Postby thorax232 » 11 October 2012, 03:46

I get an error message when opening and closing LiberKey it says:

\Software\LiberKey\LiberKeyTools\LIberKeyMenu\data\icons.cache is unreadable. Please run ChkDsk utility.

I've run Chkdsk through Windows command prompt but it doesn't fix the problem. And when I open up the Liberkey folder there is no LiberKeyMenu folder. Or any data forlder or icons.cache file for that matter. =/

Any ideas?

You have an error but no LiberkeyMenu folder where the application is supposed to be located ?!

Really strange, I would recommend you to install your liberkey again in a separate folder.

well, try that:

1. If you have admin privileges, try to become the folder owner (mouse right click on folder, security, advanced, owner, click on your user name, mark to replace it on subfolders etc., ok, wait a progress dialog to close if it appears, and, on security tab again, try to give total control for it to your user).

2. If some errors appear, try to do as system recommended (chkdsk) until all problems are fixed (well, sometimes you must restart after completing chkdisk fixes to fix something more, until chkdsk does not fing anything more).

3. If every time you restart the system chkdsk find a problem, your HD is near to the dead end...

4. If your HD health is ok, but LK is still with that issue, try only to delete icons.cache and to start LK.

5. Still with that problem? Install LK to another folder, preferably on a drive root (C:\, D:\ ..., to become c:\liberkey, d:\liberkey ...), copy all files from \Software\LiberKey\Apps to \LiberKey\Apps and use LK to recover them to menu...
