VLC file associations

Postby kokbira » 19 September 2011, 14:23

I have some programs installed on a computer with Windows 7, but the same installed also in Liberkey on that computer. So to save disk space and do the programs more independent of OS, I'm uninstalling non-portable apps and assigning respective file types to portable ones.

But I have some problems with VLC. File type associations for VLC non-portable work fine, but not for portable one... I tried to run the portable VLC with and without admin privileges, with non-portable installed and uninstalled, but changing file associations inside VLC portable does not have any effect.

Does someone have any solution different from manually associating every file type to VLC portable in Windows?

Did you try to explicitely unassociate VLC non-portable associations ? (If I remember well, this is possible in VLC preferences)
