Installing Non-Listed Applications...?

Messagede mathepa » 02 Juin 2012, 23:42

Is it possible to install applications that are not listed in the official catalog?

I tried installing Camstudio (camstudio.org), which is a fairly small application, to my liberkey.
Camstudio includes a screen recorder, an editor, and a player but only the player would work. The others came up with an error.

So now I am wondering if it is actually possible to install non-listed apps to your liberkey or do we have to stay in the official catalog?

Hello mathepa,

Yes, it's possible. You can drop an executable in your menu if you want, an icon will be added.
But keep in mind that this does not make it "portable". If you want your apps to go with you on a usb stick (or any removable media) they have to be portable. The folder "MyApps" is intended to host applications that are not coming from the LiberKey catalog.
You'll find a portable version of camstudio on sourceforge. If your LiberKey menu is running you just have to launch the downloaded app installer. Click on the "next" button and the menu will ask you if you want to install the app into your LiberKey.
